Eva Breau Obituary

Eva Breau (la belle Eva), née Poirier, daughter of Emanuel and Leonie

Eva passed away at the Moncton Regional Hospital on August 5th at the age of 86.

She is survived by her sister Jeannine Deveau (Frank), her brother Freddy Poirier (Edna), her surviving children, son Terry, daughter Bea, son-in-law Bruce, grandchildren Brigitte and Jacob (Jessica and their children Alex, Zavier and Lucas). She was pre-deceased by two sons, Bernie and Dan, and her siblings, Rena, Armand, Lorraine, Omer, Alice and Aldine. She also leaves to mourn many special and beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

How does one even begin to write an obit for a woman as unique and special as our beloved Eva was...

Her loving heart knew no bounds. Eva loved people, and there was a special corner of her heart reserved for children. She saw goodness in everyone, whether family, friends or strangers, and offered her compliments openly and freely. Eva had a talent for making people feel special.

Eva bore and raised 4 children, and so many more considered her their second mother. She always had room for one more. These loving relationships continued over the years and extended to the upcoming generations. There is no doubt that the love and energy she shared will continue spreading.

Her helping hands were always available to anyone in need and she derived such great pleasure in sharing whatever she had. You never left Eva's house without a gift of some sort in hand.

She spoke an unvarnished truth and rarely softened hard realities, yet she was known for her incredible sense of humor. She was really really funny!!

Music flowed through Eva's veins. She was a self-taught musician and her love for music was tremendous. In recent years, if you called to see how she was and what she was doing, her answer was invariably, "I'm good, I'm knitting dishcloths and listening to a CD Freddy sent me." (thanks for sending her all those CDs Freddy!)

We don't know for certain how she'd want to be remembered, but I reckon she will be remembered as a loving, kind, warm, funny, humble, clever, musical, determined, hard working, helpful, toe-tapping spitfire of a straight shooting woman.

Eva's family would like to extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks and everlasting appreciation to the staff of the Manoir Notre Dame. There wasn't a day that went by that Eva didn't express gratitude for living where she did. You were never just staff to her, she considered each of you family.

There will be no public visitation or service. If you're so inclined, we invite you to donate dollars or musical instruments to Sistema, a program of the NB Youth Orchestra. You'll find them on FB, listed as "Sistema NB Moncton Centre".

"My mother's silent sacrifices will be forever infused in my heart." (D. Hamilton)
