Pere Leo-Paul LeBlanc Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Father Léo-Paul LeBlanc announces his passing at the Dr. Georges-L.- Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton on November 2, 2019. Born on July 19, 1923 at La Hêtrière, he was the son of the late Adolphe and the late Alice (Belliveau) LeBlanc. Father Léo-Paul leaves to mourn one sister, Soeur Marie Cécile LeBlanc, n.d.s.c. of Moncton and one sister-in-law, Antoinette (late Sifroi and late René Bourgeois) LeBlanc of Moncton, as well as several nieces and nephews. Father Léo-Paul was predeceased by five brothers, Albert (late Beatrice), Edgar (late Lina), Sifroi, Henri (late Zelma) and Yvon (late Marie-Mai), as well as five sisters, Bertha (late Stanley Bourgeois and late Fred LeBlanc) LeBlanc, Emilienne (late Emile) Cormier, Soeur Elodie LeBlanc, n.d.s.c., Soeur Yvonne LeBlanc, n.d.s.c. and Aurore (late Laurent) Richard. Father Léo-Paul was ordained by Msgr. Norbert Robichaud at the Saint Thomas de Memramcook Church on May 8, 1955, following the completion of his classical studies at St. Joseph University, and his theological studies at the Holy Heart Seminary in Halifax. He was the curate at the parishes of Barachois, Parkton, Dieppe, Shediac, and Cap-Pelé and the pastor in Pointe-Sapin, Saint-Paul (Adamsville) and Haute Aboujagane. He was also chaplain of the 'Mouvement des femmes chrétiennes' for seven years. Father Léo-Paul was a sociable person who loved meeting people. He shared his message, a positive message towards life. He loved family gatherings and was devoted to his large extended family. During his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, bowling and playing bridge. Visitations will be held at the Dupuis Funeral Home, Memramcook on Tuesday, November 5 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Wednesday, November 6, beginning at 10:00 a.m., there will be visitations at the St-Thomas de Memramcook Church, StJoseph, where the funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be at the Chartersville cemetery. If desired, as an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the 'Fondation de la Cathédrale de Notre-Dame de-l'Assomption de Moncton, Inc.’ or to a charity of your choice.
